Thai-inspired Pork Patty Bowl

Description

All the flavors of a Thai meal in one delicious, gluten-free, tender pork patty. Sitting on top of a bowl of warm rice with your favorite veggies, an egg, fresh herbs, and sweet & spicy sauce. It's the kind of meal that just makes you feel good!


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup minced cilantro, plus more for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh minced ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Sweet and spicy mayo sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce like Mae Ploy
  • 1-2 teaspoons sriracha or garlic chili paste
  • 1-2 teaspoons fresh squeezed lime juice

Accompaniments

  • rice
  • fried egg or hardboiled egg
  • fresh or sauteed vegetables
  • fresh herbs like Thai basil, cilantro, or mint
  • crushed peanuts
  • Sesame seeds


Instructions

  1. Combine all of the ingredients except the pork to a medium sized bowl and stir to combine.
  2. Add the pork to the bowl by pinching pieces off and dropping them into the bowl as well.
  3. Using your hands, gently combine the pork with the other ingredients.
  4. Refrigerate this mixture for at least 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  5. When the pork mixture is ready, form flat patties and lay them out evenly on a lined sheet pan.
  6. Bake for 12 minutes or until the patty reaches 155°.
  7. Enjoy with a bowl of rice and your favorite veggies.

Sweet and spicy mayonnaise

  1. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lime juice. Let sit for 20 minutes before eating.
